We are not makers of history.
We are made by history.

Project Going Home

The American Legion Raymond Stafford Post 513, a traditionally black Legion post, has graciously consented to allow exploration to be done on their property, where burials are believed to have been done.  The project seeks to unite all who live and work in Thibodaux and surrounding communities in a spirit of reconciliation. Plans are being developed for a multi-faith, multi-racial public welcome home service for massacre victims once the scientific work has been completed. The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and several local churches have offered to work on supplying burial space when the time arises.
